Nancy patterson adair
The Collierville Burch Library is pleased to welcome local artist Nancy Patterson Adair as our artist for the month of August. Nancy has had a background as varied and colorful as her work. Not only has she had formal training (art classes at then-Memphis State University), but also she has actively pursued to refine and enhance artistic techniques by attending workshops and classes in oil and watercolor painting from some of the area’s finest artists.
Ms. Adair refuses to limit herself to any one medium. A visit to Murano, Italy, peaked her desire to work with glass. She studied fused glass techniques under Jan Singer and Teresa White. Curious by nature, she soon discovered the ancient art of encaustic painting (pigmented hot wax “painted” with a heat gun); as an artist, she enjoyed the freedom of moving color with heat in order to get unexpected results.
Whether depicting large floral oil paintings or waterscapes, creating collages, or embracing exciting new opportunities in tech art, Ms. Adair has merged experience with self-discovery and allowed her talent to venture beyond normal boundaries.
