1. How do I get started with downloading eBooks to my device?
All you need to get started is an internet connection and a Collierville Burch library card. Kindles and Nooks will first need to be registered with Amazon or Barnes and Noble. All devices have separate instructions for borrowing eBooks. We have patron guides for specific devices here. Click here for further help from Overdrive>Borrowing eBooks.
2. How many books can I check out and how long can I keep them?
You can check out up to 15 titles. You can choose a checkout period of 7, 14 or 21 days. If you are a new Overdrive user, your lending periods will default to 7 days. You can change your lending periods on Your Account under Settings.
3. How do I return an eBook?
All titles are automatically returned at the end of their lending periods, so you never have to worry about late fees. Once you download a title, you may be able to return it using the software or app that you used to download it. We have patron guides for specific devices here with return instructions toward the bottom of each guide. Click here for further help from Overdrive.
4. How do I renew an eBook?
If a title is available to renew, the option will become available within 3 days of its expiration. Look for the Renew button next to the book cover on your Bookshelf in your Download and Go account. If there are no existing holds on a title, the Renew icon will be green. If there are existing holds on a title, the Renew icon will be replaced by a Request Again icon which allows you to join the title's holds list and borrow the title again when it becomes available.
5. Are all of the library's eBooks listed in your online catalog?
At this time, all of our eBooks will not show up in our online catalog. You will need to go directly to the Tennessee READS to see all of our available titles.
