The Collierville Burch Library is pleased to feature Frederick Lyle Morris as our artist for the month of November. Morris’s love of art began at the tender age of 6, and he sold his first creation at 9. Under his middle name, Lyle, he has been featured in various international art books and magazines. An oil painter who has traveled the world with the American government, Morris has exhibited in China, Korea, Italy, France, and throughout the United States.
He is a Grumbacher Gold Medalist, whose work was purchased by the late Princess Diana, and his paintings are in permanent collections around the world, including Christian Brothers’ Beverly & Sam Ross Gallery here in Memphis. He is a member of Artists’ Link, Bartlett Art Association, and the Bartlett Arts Council, and his work can be found online at Fine Art America and other art sites.
About the art: A ballyhoo of “Girls! Girls! Girls!,” the Follies, fast times in an era of "whatever can be can be,” the whisper of “I'm ready for my close-up.” This group of paintings captures that time, a moment that will never be again.—Frederick Lyle Morris
