Library Board Member Shares the Vision of the Library to Enchant. Engage. Empower.
Why do you love the Library?
Free books! Growing up in suburban St. Louis, my friends and I would look forward to the bookmobile stopping in our neighborhood. We couldn't wait to see what was available and pull out the sign-out card from the book pocket. What a deal. My love of books and reading helped push me to a journalism career and has never waned. Now, it delights me to watch my 5-year-old grandson thumb through the children's books (especially Star Wars), picking just the right one for his parents to read at bedtime. There's much to see and do at our library. I'm never disappointed, even if the book I want is checked out.
Why do you spend your valuable time to support our work?
The words are on the library's website or on the bookmark -- "enchant. engage. empower. Visit the Burch Library today to embark on your adventure." That mission is accomplished every day. Our library features a wide variety of events and activities for all ages, shaped and guided by a visionary director, Deanna Britton, and an innovative staff dedicated to keeping the library relevant in today's ever-changing world. It's an honor for me to play a small part.
